I have a confession to make -
'I have been actively in the process of writing my biography for over 12 months now and it is NO-Where near being completed.
In fact I have started and stopped this book so many times that I have lost count of. The drive to write it is there, but sometimes ( a lot of the time) procrastination rolls in and
weeks have gone past and I haven't even so much as placed my cursor near the file on my desktop.
It's been a shambles really. I mean the rest of my career is going gang-busters, I have jobs coming in, my talks are going extremely well, and the feedback is awesome. I have developed a workshop on public speaking, a learning guide, I am in the throws of developing a new keynote on critical decision making .... yet me book, perhaps the most important project of all has just been sitting there gathering dust (metaphorically of course .... unless the computer file and gather dust?!?).
I am making myself accountable to you and to you and to you. I am going to finish this book.
It now has a title .... but the only clue I will give is it has the word "ditch" in it.
It has a publication date - the first of may, 2014.
a date in concrete, a date to aim for, strive for, a date that is etched on my forehead, a date that is the top of my goal list. Could it be? My book is me next Paralympic Games?
What is a goal you have been procrastinating on? Why are you procrastinating? Do you know how to stop the procrastination?
Take a hint from above - set a date and work for that ..... history, for me anyway, suggests this works.

You know that saying right? Things come in three's? It's usually associated with bad things, accidents, lost opportunities; not for me, not these past few weeks anyway!
So let's go . . .
1. First corporate gig EVER!!!!
Yep, I tackled my first ever corporate gig and SUCCESS!! I did my job, told my story, emphasized three particular points - all obstacles are surmountable, self belief is most important, and remember, we are all human, and in the process made one of the delegates cry. Cry in a good way!!! Of course.
I will admit, I was slightly more nervous then I usually am, but I kept up my pranayama (yogic breathing - check out my posts on yoga if your curious), and walked on stage ready to rock the room.
2.Fleetwood Mac and the BEST CONCERT EVER!!!!
Yep, immediately after my first ever corporate gig I made my way to Manchester to watch one of the most legendary bands ever to rock this world. Fleetwood Mac were amazing and I am still pinching myself that I have seen Stevie Nicks in the flesh - she is a hero of mine, a real inspiration to my feminist sensibilities. They were, quite literally, the whole package. Every sense was enlivened, the songs were real, alive, vibrant, the imagery metaphorical, bathed in the storytelling process - a true feast for the senses. Do I want to go see Fleetwood Mac again in concert? Hell YES!!!
3. PSA Mega Convention - CREATIVITY FOR EVER!!!
Over this weekend just gone I attended my first ever Professional Speakers Association Convention and boy did it knock my socks off. I also had the added honour to be a finalist in the PSA's Speakerfactor (and yes, it is what it sounds like . . . and X-factor for speakers!). I didn't win, but a friend of mine, Steve, won it and boy did he deserve it!! In the process of doing Speakerfactor, however, my opportunities to connect and network increased four-fold, I can feel the tangibleness of further speaking success, I can taste it, see it, visualise it, and it's all because of this amazing convention!!
Now, I should also acknowledge the saturday just gone .... I was a speaker for Richard McCann's 'ICan the Event.' Richard and his awe-inspiring events need their own special mention. I always feel privileged when Richard asks me to speak for him, he has been a massive support to my speaking career and I admire the socks off him (not literally peeps!!)
So things coming in three's .... and then a special mention .... what can I say peeps - live life, grab all opportunities, and get to know people ..... my three tips for going for that magic three!!
