It is nice to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a disability allyship specialist, speaker, consultant, and leadership coach who is passionate about building bridges and connections between the disabled and non-disabled communities. I am the person you come too to help your organisation feel a little less awkward and unsure about disability.
In the past twelve years I have worked as an international keynote speaker, workshop developer and lead in both the educational and corporate sectors, I am also founder and editor of disability-focused magazine Conscious Being, and I also do leadership coaching. Drawing on my lived experience as a disabled woman, my creativity developed from two degrees in Fine Arts, and resilience and character strength knowledge from a degree in Character Education, I have inspired and directed thousands of people towards creative, inclusive change.
My mission is to leave the world in a better place for disabled people now, and in the future. I believe that collectively, as disabled and non-disabled people, we can co-create this inclusive world. A world where disabled people feel that they are welcome and that they belong.
What has inspired this mission? I was born limb different and from the very beginning of my life it has been a battle against systemic exclusion to feel that I belong. A space and place where I did feel a sense of belonging was in the Paralympics. I was a Paralympic medalist for Australia, competing in the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games and the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games. I have also been an exhibiting artist and academic, researching the visual representation of disability, I have run a business bringing positive psychology into schools, and have also co-authored a book for teachers about developing character and resilience.
When I am not teaching and guiding people on how to step into their power as a disability ally and coaching people to jive into their leadership potential, I have weekly piano lessons, go for regular walks in the local park, and knit whilst binge watching my favourite murder mystery show.
Are you ready to start or continue your disability allyship journey? Let me support you on building bridges and confidence towards disability inclusion.
